Throwing codes, but I don't know the numbers. Engine light coming on and keps going dead at very low speeds etc. From what I have read so far I meet all the requirements for a EGR valve replacement. Hoping this is something I can do myself....FYI, I was quoted $600.00 to $650.00 to do this 3 hour repair. I don't think so.

I thought I would give this a try. However, I don't know where to look for it. Is there a service manual for the 2005 / 3.5 engine that I can download???

I do have a fair shop at my farm where I live, but my knowledge of car repair is about 20 years behind the curve. Let me at an original 300 and I'm good to go. But things seem to have changed. Wonder what I was doing during this change (lost in the past I think).

    Thanks for any ideas.

Word on the street is the only challenge in this is the close quarters. I don't know of a writeup floating around, however I'll get back to you on a bit on this while I search. If you do it, take a bunch of pics so we can add this to the knowledge base and help the next guy!

Maybe you could write up a "How to" replace EGR valve and Summit it so other people could use it when and if needed .

If you look in the knowledge base the full service manual is available for download that will show what needs to be done. It's not a difficult job and with some basic tools you should be able to do it yourself.

just make sure the 10mm socket goes good and straight on the bolts as they are in pretty tight sometimes and it's easy to wear off the bolt head

Yea... Like I did. Now I have to take it to go get a shop to change it because I accidentally stripped the shit out of one of the bolts. Felt like i had it gripped and it was turning but it wasn't.

As for the location of it, stand on the left side of the hood and remove the purge solenoid. reach your hand down to the right of it towards the engine and you should feel the EGR valve. If you look at it from the rear direction of the car, the EGR valve is on the bottom right side of the back of the engine. You'll have to take the intake manifold off to get to it but it's still a pain in the a$$ to get to, definitely doable though.
