She was running fine I stooped to run on to the store and when I came back out she wouldn't start and when she did there's a rattle from under the engineering and the oil smells like gas. There is also oil coming out around the PCV valuve. I'm afraid to ask what could have happened.

Well against my better judgment the dealer began the grueling task of removing my motor and replacing it with there motor, (that is what it looked like from the carnage to my girl, we will get to that in a minute).

I did try to halt operation at one point and the man (Assistant Sales Manager) told me they had started on the repair and the motor should be here soon. This was the day after I talked to Scott @ Afterhours. The man said it could be done Friday.

Well Friday came and no word if the motor had arrived. So I call the man, he said that he was just getting ready to call me and the motor hit the dealership late Thursday. So I ask when it will be done. Could be late Monday or Tuesday the man said, by now its been a week that shes been in the ER.

This is where it runs kinda like a 2 min drill. Monday going good. Then Tuesday I get a call, it the man she need a motor mount, there liquid filled DUHHH. Who would have thought of replacing that. Well It need to be replaces, it is that thing a majiggy that secures that 360 HP HEMI. That what I like to say it has any way.

Wednesday: I get another call from the man. I'm thinking shes done. Nope yet another part needs replaced. The MDS solenoids need replaced. One of them came apart we need to replace them all. O ok what the heck is an MDS solenoid. I mean I know what its for but where is it whats it look like. I'm thinking it must be some where exposed to the elements. I finally Google it and there it is and ya it is hard to replace and you
Need to know what your doing. That is why it is there at the dealer in the first place they know what they are doing. Well not when it came to this part. And for that matter just stop after one broke. some one correct me if I'm wrong did they all needed replaced, or was it like well I tryed, it broke, tell the customer they need replaced. That way I can stop trying to remove them.

Thursday: I told the man I was not going to be able to pick the car up on Thursday when we talked Wednesday. All day goes by I finally call him at 4:45 hes off at 5:00. straight to voice mail. He calls back. The cars still not done and by the way there's just one more part that needs replaced. Its throwing a code oxygen censer needs replace tack on another $150. But she'll be done tomorrow between 10 & 11. Cool I'm working right down the street I can grab her and I can test her out going to my next appointment. Its been 2 week since we parted. The man has the final number 7,287.00 WTF.

Friday: I get the call at about 10:45 AM shes done. I tell him I will be there around 12:30. That perfect the man said I will be back from lunch by then. Drop the rental off and hitch a ride from Enterprise. I cant wait finally get to feel the power again. I arrive shes looking good Tires dressed just washed. So here we go road test. First couple miles going good. There definitely some change in her. Ok her we go lets give her a little kick in the ass. Man feels like a little miss to me I thought. Back her down and kick her again ok maybe it was just working some newness out. Here comes the Highway well take her for a little cruse. Well before we could get there I hear something, it must be the guy next to me cus I have a 12 mile new motor in me and that sounds like a damaged motor. Well you know what its not, its coming from me. Again
WTF.

She was running rough, knocking in worse condition than when I took her there. So I limp it back to the dealership. The mans with me the whole time. Pop the hood and start to diagnose the issue. I look and shes just beat parts just hanging, dirty. That little black can Looking thing up by the windshield passenger side. I reattach that. Oils good first thing I said was did you put oil in it POKE POKE.

Then I look and right behind the fascia that black frame that the fans mount to actually the top of the fascia attaches to it, its broke and all scratched up. It looks like some one used it to pry off of. Maybe they thought I wouldn't notice it but little do they know I get some quality one on one time under the hood. My fiance calls her the other girl. At this point I'm feeling the blood presser rising. I continue to not check for more signs of carnage. It's there the fender right on top next to the hood Big scratches. The bumper That was just painted in Sept. I Look at the man who I know at this point just wants to go hide his head in the sand. I have lost all confedence with the parts and labor and I should have took it to someone else.

It started out being $6,500 plus the rental that he was willing to help me out on and he would pay half. Well he used up that help from his inadequate staff. I think it was a training lesson. And again tell me if I'm wrong a week to change out a motor at the dealership. They have all the tools. Then all the extra part
Water pump/ Thermo my choice 145
Mount 60
MDS 38 each
Oxygen censor 150
Grand total for the service $7,100

I'm calling Chrysler Corp and there's no way I letting them repair my vehicle. I have some calls out there and just waiting on that to decide where the next step is. Sorry for the long one but I just had to get it off my chest.

Damn that sux i think i am the only person with a kick ass dealer... BTW ciablo the 5.7's and the 6.1's have different rears the gearing is different and so is the rear[/QUOTe

Ya I wish I would have got your recomendation for afterhours mopar sooner. But the way its looking the car will end up there anyway. So thanks for the advise. He has the star tool to reflash the ecm for a 6.1 and yes the rear end gearing is different but he said it will be ok. plus he knows of a complete engine and trans 6.1 for sale its got 40k on it. I went in smelling like **** but may come out smelling like roses. The only way Im gona let the dealer touch it is if it all gets replaced and the price comes down if not Im pulling it out of there. Plus now the wife is pissed and shes got some rican and Italian in her not a good combo if you on the other end of the woopin stick. Plus shes on the title of the car she has all right to the discussion making if I let her. And I just may turn my pit bull loose on them and site back and watch the show. lmao

if you can get more engine for the same price I would do it. the transmission is the same the rear end is the same except the SRT has a bigger gear and unless you plan on racing the car hard you won't need to upgrade the radiator or the brakes

wow totally unfortunate situation. Sounds like a dealer with a bad bunch of techies. car goes in and comes out in worse shape and your still left with a broken car after a whopping 7500! hang in there hopefully something right comes out of it. the only time my car sees the dealer is if its extremely broke and i have no idea whats wrong. but still at that point they call prior to service to tell me the cost and what needs to be performed i have had suspension instances where once diagnosed i did the repairs myself.

Ya iv never liked taking my car to the dealer and this just reconfirms that. Ya major problems id say a new motor was a major problem. I don't think that the tech's down here are like they are in Michigan after all it is the home of Motor City.

i would consider swaping to a srt rear they are stronger and not to expensive i have a buddy that went through 2 5.7 diffs with only a cam and broke a few axles.
Blue Scott and jon are good guys they will take good care of you.p.s i also know what you mean about the rican italian combo quite the handfull:smileup:

CIABLO THE 5.7'S HAVE A 210MM REAR THE 6.1'S HAVE 215MM REARS DIFFERENT GEARS AND DIFFERENT REARS MAYBE YOU SHOULD LEARN TO READ AND STOP ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!

ah see there is the difference I have always referred to that as the axle I see where you're coming from. they are slightly stronger but still known to be a weak point if they are from the earlier production years. The 09 getrag was able to fix the breaking of the half shafts that many people were seeing due to the fabrication method. If you're going to be swapping things out I'd just go straight to a getrag setup.
oh and nice job using the bold and CAPS to make your point. I can really feel your anger

Well the saga continues. I was ready to pull the car from the dealer and sent it to Afterhours. After a few choice words with the service manager at the dealership her is the out come. They blamed it on bad parts the new MDS solenoid failing and not letting oil in to the cylinder. The knocking was the rocker arm hitting the valve cover. I was so pissed not just that but the workmanship and the care taken to my car. The dealer agreed to come down to $6500 and repaint my front end (both fenders and bumper) it needed it bad the bumper was hit from stone chips and them darn love bugs. I did tell the dealer I am not to confident on the quality of the parts but he reassured me that it would be right and looking good when it was complete, including detailing the engine compartment.

Well today I received a call from the dealer and they have it put back together and it still has a knock so they are going to change the motor again. I think that is the best thing to do considering the noises it was making when I went to pick it up before, there had to be more than just a bad MDS solenoid.

Well just keeping you all in the loop. I received a call today from the dealer and again the second replacement motor has a knock WTF. Chrysler told them they need to get a motor from them and not to use the re-manufactured one. So It will most likely be another week. How hard is it to replace a motor :eek:mg9hi:

Not as hard as it has been! But now a days these dang motors have all the electronic bells and what not on it. Hope your 3rd "new" motor works out for you.

So sorry to hear all the troubles you have been having. I sure hope the ending would be better. They should have given you a brand new motor..
Good luck with this.

Yea, when you were saying 'new' motor I assumed that meant 'not used'. I wouldn't want **** to do with a remanufactured engine...warranty or not, that just sounds like future headaches.

Well finally shes back home. The paint look ok just because when they wet sanded it they didn't buff the white haze off completely but its not that noticeable only if you look at it in the right light. I just need to take it back up one day when I have time and they will rebuff the complete car. As far as how she runs all I can say is hold on I notice a big difference in response and power considering they had to basically replace the complete motor top and bottom the only thing they used were my heads, new cam, lifters, intake because the two crap motors destroyed my cam and lifters so that good now I got basically a complete new motor and not a re-manufactured one. The service manager said it should have more HP due to it being made in 2010, it is still built under the specs for 2006. The predator is installed and she,s ready to hunt down some Mustangs. She takes off like a rocket from the light. Thanks for all the encouraging word and advise.
