I own a 2008 300C AWD equipped with the UConnect radio model RER.

i bought the navigation and software update from the UConnect website the radio directed me to and I got the two part disc set. I updated the software without a problem and followed all instructions exactly as they were written.

When I tried to update map software it made it through the files and then errored out while verifying POI. It now does not have any map databases installed and HERE (the map database company) does not provide any support and instead directs you to a dealership.

Does anyone know if I will be required to pay for this to be fixed at a dealership since it was a Chrysler supported update? Or another way to fix this?

That is strange they don't support your current update. Did you try to run the update again ? It might work on the 2nd try.

I have tried the map update 3 times now but have not yet attempted the software update a second time. I will have to try that when I get enough time to let it sit.

If you have file store on the Hard drive, you could delete a few to make room. Maybe the update crash because it run out of space. There might be a way to flash the hard drive in a computer instead of using the radio. You would need an image I guess. You can always call the dealer and ask if they will charge you, a call is free !

I have about 10 songs installed so low space isn’t the problem. I will try to reset the system software and if that does not work I will probably just put in an aftermarket radio as the dealership quoted me at $160 just to diagnose
