So I am going to build a sub box similar to this one except that it is going to have 1.5 cubic feet per woofer and its going to be ported, but thats not my question. I am building it out of MDF (for the time being) and I wanted to be able to paint it Brilliant Black to match my car, what is the best way to go out that if its even possible and is it possible to have it be glossy and shiny like with a clear coat? Im not really sure what Im talking about but Im hoping someone will get my drift and be able to help me out.

you can do it just need some good wood primer to start and then some coats of your color and then clear.

It will take a lot of prep work, but it is possible. Have to make sure that it is very smooth, and every slight imperfection is taken care of with wood filler or bondo or the like. Then prep the wood with some good primer and then paint just like you would a part on the car.
