WEll for the second time in the past three years I got rear ended on the drive home. We have a nasty little highway that is the cause of many a fender bender and I got nailed again. With traffic jumping in and out of lanes the folks ahead of me slammed on their brakes.... I always give myself plenty of room knowing the way people drive on this stretch. Well the guy behind me wasn't paying attention and slammed into me. I don't know how fast he was going went he hit me, probably around 30 to 35. The worse part was looking in my rear view mirror and knowing I was about to be nailed.

I'll take the car into the body shop on Monday and get the repair process started.

The scary part is he wants to pay me and not run it through insurance. Seems he was driving his dad's truck (Chevy s10) guy was early thirties, and doesn't want dear old dad to know he got into a fender bender. Since I've got a fair amount of neck and shoulder pain from the whiplash, he's just gonna have to man up and tell dad, as I'll let the insurance companies take care of this.

I grab two crappy cell phone pics last night.... it looks much worse in the daylight.

thanks everyone. The shoulders and neck is very stiff and tight. I'll get a medical evaluation tomorrow after I take the car to the body shop. My fear is what I can't see, the damage is far worse looking in the light of day.

Going to have to crawl through the rear seat to get all my photo gear outta the trunk. I know once I pop it, it won't close again.

Did you actually see a valid insurance policy from this dude yet? I am thinking you may have your work cut out for you on this one....it seems kind of shady from my perspective.
He was covered under his dad's insurance. So my insurance is working with their insurance, so I'm good on that. They gave me a Chevy Malibu LT as my rental, and I don't fit in it. I have to crawl in and out.... what a pain. Taking it back tomorrow to get an SUV.

I'm probably going to be without my car for a couple of weeks. But the Body shop is a client and I know the owner will take excellent care in the repairs.

Wow that sucks Bob . Did you get an MRI on your neck/back ? I know all too well about bad neck/back/spine issues . Damn disc problems can present themselves years later . I'd go to a chiro or rehab specialist too and keep things in check . As bad as it sucks , a car is just a car . Hope the medical side goes well for you .
My chiropractor is pushing for the MRI, so I'll get one later this week. The muscle relaxers and pain pills are offering no relief so I quit taking them, and the headaches are constant. Gotta check on the car tomorrow... I miss her way too much...LOL
