Hi, I have a 2012 v6 300 (awesome car) it has 3000 miles on it. Went to start it two days ago and got "key fob not detected" had it towed to dealer where I bought it and its been 3 days now and they cant find the problem. Both fobs wont start car. Lights come on trunk opens but not with either fobs. Dealer said they are in contact with Chrysler for a fix. NOTE, the day prior wife and I did smell electrical burn for few seconds inside car while driving and put it of as may have been another car on the road. We stopped for gas an hour later, shut car off and drove home. Next morning fobs didnt work. The tow guy tried his magic buy doing the push 6 times on lock side of fob hold unlock then key in door for 10 seconds ...no workie!! So here I sit wondering if this is going to be an issue or not..Any thoughts??? Thanks

Walt: to start with the manual start feature...

Push the start button with the nose of the keyfob. (The end opposite the emergency key).

There is a tiny RIFD chip built into the fob that will enable the start button even if it can't see the fob because of dead fob battery or something wrong with the fob receiver in the car.

Knowing this might have saved you a tow, but it is equally possible that feature would have failed if the problem was somewhere else in the ignition system.

This little gem is hidden on page 11 of the Users Guide and page 13 of the Owners Manual. You would think it would be more prominently highlighted, since All Fob batteries die eventually.

Please post back when you find out what happened to your car. I have the same model.

Thanks Wangrin

Got my 300 back 4 days after my first post and they had it 2 days prior. Well they must be slow at this Chrysler dealer/shop as I called every day looking to see what they found. It appears as if the ignition switch it self failed. The tow guy that came did what you described with no luck. Thanks for your response. Im hoping this doesnt happen again, I will worry now every time I take a long trip. Let me know if you here of more issues or a recall.

Sorry, I meant this for ICEBIKE

Mine has started doing the same thing. I did not know about the manual start procedure either. Thanks for the info. There is most likely an issue with this on the 300. I just hope that Chrysler does not try to hide it like GM and do the right thing an issue a recall because this has become a problem that has caused me lots of worry as well. Mine on has 28,746 miles and I bought it new in 2011

Anything to fix this problem yet? My 2012 300 is doing the same thing.
Mostly this thread was about new cars not detecting fobs.

But now it's three years later, and your most likely problem is your fob battery is dying. First thing you need to do is get a new battery for your fob.

Page 25 of the owners manual.
Short version : buy a CR2032 button battery, pry open fob using the key, and replace battery.

My batteries just wore out two months ago.
