2012 300 BASE, RWD. When I brake relatively hard but not panic braking, say like coming to a stop at the bottom of a hill, when I release the brake pedal, I hear a "DOINK" or a moderate "whack" like the sound of a golf ball hitting the undercarriage.
It happens every time I release the brake after a moderate to hard stop, so I'm wondering if it's a component that could go at any brake application and send me into cross traffic.
Plunger? Pressure equalization valve?

First thing I'd check would be the caliper guide pins and bushings.

If the car's a keeper, though, and it's anywhere near needing brakes, I would take this as an opportunity to upgrade to BR5 (R/T & 300C) front brakes. Not a whole lot more labor than replacing the caliper pins, and the parts cost is very reasonable.

It's a solid performance jump, from single pistons with 210 sq in of swept area, to dual pistons and 249 sq in.
