It seems excessive. And it heavily obstructs your rear view when you're backing up. Other cars that are similar don't seem to have such huge problems like that. They're much thinner.

It's called a C pillar, or a sail panel, and the reason is aesthetics as well as roll over protection. The high beltline giving them the chopped top look definitely can restrict vision, but you don't notice it once you get used to it and I would hate to see what a thinner panel would look like. Drive one of the new Camaro's and then talk to me about visibility.

There doesn't seem to be much participation in this group, if you want responses and discussion I would suggest joining one of the FB 300 groups like Chrysler 300 owners, Chrysler 300 owners group and Chrysler 300 club, you will find much more active discourse and community.
