Hi guys I would like to get everyones opinion on this race because my cousion just purchased a GT stock and I have a 300c 5.7 with a K&N intake , Borla exhaust, diablo programmer but I have my car on 22's that's the only set back. I'm pretty sure I could take em . If any has had similar matches and wanted to share some results...Hopefully I get to run him soon but I wanted to hear some opinions so I can have an idea. Thanks

I'm not sure, but I know that you've got about 600-700 lbs on him. However, no counting the HP gains you get from your mods, you have a slight disadvantage as far as lbs per HP. With your predator set up for harder shifting, and assuming he hasn't learned his car too well yet, you could probably get the jump on him. The 22s will slow you down a little, but I think you got it!

Forgot to mention, with your mods I would estimate you're pushing about 360HP at the flywheel maybe? He's only pushing about 310 to the flywheel. So, let him fiddle through his new transmission and smoke him with your precisely controlled shifts LOL. Keep in mind you're take-off probably won't be as good as his if he knows what he's doing at all.

I am not in any way a drag racing expert, but I'm sure someone like MJR5150 could chime in and answer you better!

thanks

He didn't want to race me .but yesterday we left my house and he was in front of me when we got to the corner stop sign and I knew he was going to go for it when we turned because he was with his girl. And we both stepped on it he had more than half a car head start and I caught up and got a half a car in front before we got to the light. He told me he stepped on and admitted I would beat him on a good race but I love that mustang I drove it . That thing peels out in 3rd gear

Right after I bought my car, while it was still bald stock, I had two different occasions to go up against late model Mustang GT's. Both happened on the same stretch of road where there are no houses/children on bikes/ intersections, - wide visibility, etc. Completely industrial area where the road splits into two lanes in the same direction for about a mile or so. Both times I was behind mister GT while he was watching me in his rear view mirror. Both times I heard Mr. GT mash the gas and downshift as we arrived at the roadway split.....both times I hammered it was well. Both times I passed his ass well before the road turned back into one lane. Both were very clearly engaged...they both tried to keep me from passing and failed. One car seemed to have a mod or two....the other one I smacked around pretty easy. Since that time, I have had a couple little mix ups with GT's but we were in an unsafe area...so I didnt bother getting involved with them. Stock for stock...the C Hemi beats the late model GT's the vast majority of the time in my opinion, a point which you already seem to have established. Incidently....I have an 05 C 5.7 which had 20K miles on it at the time. NOW....the NEW Mustang GT (2011 model I think??) .....Fagetaboutit ...It will gut a stock C...I just read the cover of motortrend I think it was..it said 0-60 times on the new GT somewhere in the 4.3 range (SRT's will have their hands very full with this beast) ....hell even the new V6 Mustang is running 5.1 seconds to 60....say hello to the tail lights as it goes flying by....:D

I've seen many videos of GT's up against C's and the result is always the same. The GT is faster on the take off but gets eaten alive a few seconds later. I've also been told by a GT owner that he had been overtaken by a C (nice conversation wile waiting for an oil change ;) )

Anyways I have no real experience to share as I own a touring but I just thought I would pitch in :D. Also I do like Mustangs so I'm not trying to put it down or anything.

MODS for sure

You should be able to take him as you have a horsepower advantage, but i wouldnt push your luck when he starts modding that 3v.
Yea I know ,I'm the one who is going to be helping him mod his car so were going to be testing them out constantly... oh talking about that tommorrow I'm staying with the mustang to take it to the dealer for sensor ,ima have some fun . Riding to the beach right after I get that sensor done.
