Steering wheel ??

Hey guys is it possible to remove the wood grain from the steering wheel so that i can sand it and paint it the same as some of my other pieces in my car...im doing the painting sunday if possible but i wanted to double check on this before i jump into it. Thank, Ryan

I think the steering wheel looks good painted to match as long as you are doing the steering wheel inserts as well and you are painting them a darker color....it would not look good bright blue or red or yellow or something off color like that

You can remove the wheel, and tape off the leather/vinyl/plastic and sand and paint the wood look stuff. I've done it. However, I'd suggest spending the $$ and upgrading to a used SRT wheel. The paint while looks good, doesn't have a great feel to it, and will wear off with the oils of you're hands.

ok well i planned on taping the leather and everything off and painting it but first i have to figure out how to get it off and the little inserts..( write ups would be great). i havent looked into the srt8 steering wheels to see what they are costing. as far as the cover NO!!! lol thanks though. i think that would completely take away from the "clean" look.
